Utilities are charged with providing safe, reliable, and affordable services to their customers while operating in a rapidly changing environment. Energy demands, technology, weather events, and public policy are all evolving factors that significantly impact utilities and contribute to an uncertain future. To address this changing landscape, utilities are deploying new approaches and technologies with a variety of partners in a highly regulated environment. Duke's newest Climate Leader in Residence, Jeff Hughes, will moderate a panel of industry leaders with unique perspectives on the challenges utilities face and how they might address those challenges.
Joining Hughes will be:
- Paul Spruill, General Manager & CEO at Tideland Electric Membership Corporation
- Chris Ayers, Executive Director at North Carolina Utilities Commission Public Staff
- Kim Duffley, Senior Director of Energy Policy and Legal Counsel at the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC)
- Sybil Tate, Assistant County Manager at Buncombe County Government
