Dickinson Family Assistant Professor - MEMS, ECE, CS / Pratt

Boyuan Chen is a roboticist whose research bridges robotics, machine perception, machine learning, human-AI teaming, and dynamical systems. His work aims to develop autonomous machines that not only sense the world but also adapt and collaborate in complex, real-world environments. While directing the General Robotics Lab, he leads a full-stack approach by designing both the physical “body” and computational “brain” of intelligent systems, to push the boundaries of Embodied Intelligence. Drawing inspiration from natural intelligence in humans and animals, his research explores adaptive, multimodal, and interactive autonomy across multiple domains. His work has been widely recognized and featured in outlets including The New York Times, Forbes, Fox, Fortune, Science, and the National Science Foundation.
