A native of rural Wyoming, Ian Hitchcock has seen firsthand the challenges and opportunities of energy transformation, particularly for rural communities. In May 2024, Ian graduated from the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University with a master’s in public policy specializing in energy and environmental policy, during which time he also worked as an environmental protection specialist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Before his graduate work in North Carolina, Ian served as Energy and Climate Program Coordinator for the Vermont Natural Resources Council (VNRC).
