Director of Energy and Climate Policy - Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability

I seek to help facilitate energy transitions internationally and in the United States, and to address critical issues at the intersection of climate change, energy, and deep technology. This includes explorations into intersecting industrial policies to bolster energy and technology competitiveness while crowding in private sector finance; strategies for supply chain stability, security, and diversification amid a shifting geopolitical context and US-China relative decoupling; load growth challenges presented by AI and data center expansions; potential roles for AI in power grid modernization and clean firm power expansion; and the potential to leverage infrastructure convergence between communication (e.g., fiber optics, cellular networks) and power (e.g., transmission and distribution lines) sectors. I have worked in more than twenty countries, and I collaborate closely with actors in government, the private sector, civil society, and international organizations. I publish widely through a range of mediums and contribute to radio, television and print media.
