Description
Quantum Information Science and Technology (QIST) is an emerging field that challenges the United States' capacity for innovation and global leadership. As national priorities shift between international collaboration and technological sovereignty, the landscape of QIST innovation is profoundly shaped by reductions in federal funding and evolving international alliances. China, the United States’ most significant competitor in quantum research and commercialization, has mobilized extensive public and private investment to accelerate quantum technology capabilities.
Public Policy undergraduate Taylor Reasin analyzes the contrasting funding and innovation models of the United States and China. The analysis concludes with three targeted policy recommendations to reinforce U.S. leadership and ensure secure infrastructure for the ensuing post-quantum era.
