Climate Impact of AI: Reviewing Public Discourse

Description

Since the introduction of ChatGPT, large language models have surged in popularity and use. While significant research is being conducted on the environmental impact of these tools, less has been done to understand public discourse surrounding AI applications and their environmental impacts. Using the proxies of news and social media discourse, we aim to understand how people discuss this issue and the potential implications for policymakers, researchers, and the media that may follow.
