Description

In times of technological change, unions can protect American workers from employee rights violations. The integration of generative AI into the workplace poses significant risks to American workers, including displacement, workplace surveillance, and material impacts to job responsibilities. This paper analyzes how the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) can support union advocacy as new technology is integrated into the workforce and advocates for the adoption of an updated bargaining framework for AI negotiations.

Members

Sophie Brynes is a junior studying Public Policy and Arabic. At Duke, she is a member of the American Grand Strategy Council and Undergraduate Law Review, and a captain for the Mock Trial Team. After her freshman year, Sophie interned in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she supported the chip diffusion, foreign policy, and cybersecurity policy portfolios. This summer, Sophie is interning on a campaign for the General Assembly in her home state of Maryland.
